Welcome to The Luminous Mind!
In 2013, as I sat on my sofa notepad in hand, I imagined a place that would welcome and honor clients from all walks of life. I scribbled 'Luminous Mind', and sighed as I wondered if and when it would ever come to fruition. Less than a decade later, I feel humbled and honored to be entrusted with The Luminous Mind. Born in Baghdad, I moved to America as a toddler while my father was a Ph.D. student at Michigan State University . While I do not recall ever not speaking or understanding English, I understand the struggles to fit in or feel appropriately seen and received. The Luminous Mind is dedicated to the service of community. We are intentional about delivering person-centered care through a de-colonized lens. We receive our clients as guests making every effort to demonstrate respect for them and their dignity. ---- Dr. Layla Asamarai is a clinical psychologist specialized in treatment of trauma in adult clients.
