Kelsey McCarston MSW, LICSW
(she/her)
Welcome! Nice job taking the first step of finding a provider who will join with you on your journey toward healing. I am here to support you in your pursuit of coping with your life’s stressors, engaging effectively in your relationships (including possibly setting some needed boundaries!), healing from the past, and maybe even figuring yourself out a little bit better.
You can expect me to engage collaboratively with you, working to understand the intricacies of your life, support you through the healing process, and offer you some alternative ways of thinking and engaging in your life and with your people – all while noticing and exploring how the impact of systemic and oppressive forces may be impacting your mental health and healing. You will likely also find some humor thrown in. I incorporate principles and strategies from a variety of approaches including Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, person centered therapy, strengths-based perspective, feminist and antiracist frameworks, and EMDR therapy. I am an LICSW and received my MSW from the University of Minnesota. I work with adolescents (13+), transition age adults (18-23+), and adults in areas of depression, anxiety, and trauma. I have a particular passion for working with LGBTQ+ folks and supporting the variety of stressors and joys that come up around holding queer and trans identities. |
