Dr. Ruth Swartwood, PhD, LP, is a staff psychologist at The Luminous Mind. She earned her doctoral degree at the University of Minnesota and has been licensed since 2015. Dr. Swartwood has extensive psychological assessment experience with clients across the lifespan presenting with complex mental health, neurodevelopmental, and neuropsychological concerns. Dr. Ruth works from a sex positive, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and gender-affirming framework. She frequently integrates concepts from non-violent communication (NVC) and, more generally, humanistic thought into her work. Dr. Swartwood specializes in applied ethics, sexuality and gender issues, grief and bereavement, and neurodevelopmental differences.
Ruth strives to use both psychotherapy and psychological evaluation as tools for helping clients identify their unique path toward a life well lived. She also provides clinical supervision for a variety of practitioners on the path toward licensure. Dr. Swartwood’s practice is underscored by an unwavering commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural humility. When Ruth is not at work, she enjoys strolling through museums, tending to her ever increasing number of indoor plants, and looking at the stars with her family and two dogs. |
